Winter in the Lumber Camp

Date: January 22, 2022 10:00 AM - 03:00 PM

Venue: Pennsylvania Lumber Museum  |  City: Ulysses

Winter in the Lumber Camp is Saturday, Jan. 22

There will be free outdoor fun in the snow with sledding, building snowmen, and snow art activities from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the lumber camp at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum midway between Galeton and Coudersport on Route 6 (address: 5660 US Route 6, Ulysses, PA 16948). Bring a sled and slide down the hills or make a snowman and warm up with hot beverages including coffee, tea and cocoa in the program room. There is a donation jar for the beverages. Snacks will also be available in the program room, which is accessed through an exterior door that leads to the area where the outdoor activities are happening. That eliminates the need for people to go through the main museum entrance. Snacks in the past have been chili and hot dogs as well as individual servings of bagged chips, pretzels, peanuts, jerky, crackers, candy, etc.

If there is enough snow as well as ice on the pond, volunteer instructors will show beginners, both adults and children under adult supervision, how to use cross-country skis, snowshoes and ice skates provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Instruction and the equipment for all activities are free. Those who have their own equipment are encouraged to bring it.

Regular admission rates apply to tour museum exhibits. They are: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older and $5 for youth ages 3 to 11. For more information about this Winter Outing Series event call the museum at 1-814-435-2652.
