The Arcadia Theatre in Wellsboro will present the musical THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY January 12-14, 2018.  Based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Weller and the hit movie starring Meryl Streep & Clint Eastwood comes this moving story that captures the lyrical expanse of America's heartland along with the yearning entangled in the eternal question" "What if...?" Winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Score and Orchestrations, this sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross will leave audiences breathless.

This will be the Arcadia’s first Broadway in Concert performances.  A concert staging is where a theatre takes a show and presents it in a script in hand setting, stripping away the sets and other theatrical elements and highlighting the art of storytelling through word and music in an intimate setting.  This production will feature 3 professional actors from the New York City area in the leading roles and local Mansfield University students in the supporting and chorus roles.

The story is moving and captivatingly told thought the script written by Marsha Norman (author of the hit musicals The Secret Garden and The Color Purple) and music and Lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown.  Francesca Johnson (Laura Hall), a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier (Dan Sharkey) to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome, National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid (Bryant Martin), pulls into her driveway seeking directions, though, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca's life.

There will be 3 performances with a 7:30pm start time – Friday, January 12, Saturday January 13, and Sunday, January 14.   Please call 570-724-9371 for reservations or you can purchase tickets at the Arcadia box office any time the theatre is open.  Adults are $25.00 and students are $15.00.  Seating is limited, so reservations or advance purchase of tickets is highly recommended.
