Civilian Conservation Corps Driving Tour

John Eastlake of South Williamsport, Pa. will be leading the 2018 Tioga County Civilian Conservation Corps Driving Tour on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 10am to 3:30pm. Assisting him will be Jim Hyland, forest district manager and Tim Morey, Hills Creek natural resource specialist. Meet at 10am at the Tioga State Forest District 16 Office at One Nessmuk Lane, about one mile south of Wellsboro, on Route 287. People who drive their own vehicles will carpool to the camps. Included on the tour will be the Tioga County CCC camps at Dixie Run and Leetonia with a lunch stop at the Bradley Wales overlook of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon with a view of the old lumbering town of Tiadaghton. Those going on the tour need to bring a lunch. The tour is free and open to the public.. "The route will take us into southern Tioga County for a round-trip of approximately 65 miles, including about 40 on dirt roads," said Eastlake.
